Position: Senior Accountant

Dealership: GWM Haval Durban

Lead the finance function at one of Durban's leading automotive dealerships. This is a senior, business-critical role for a qualified and experienced accountant who can manage the dealership's financial operations within a structured framework of internal controls and oversight. If you are a strategic thinker with strong technical accounting expertise and a proven track record of managing financial operations end to end, we want to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day running of the dealership's finance function.

  • Prepare monthly management accounts, annual financial statements, and board-level financial reporting.

  • Manage cash flow, budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.

  • Ensure full compliance with SARS requirements, including VAT, PAYE, and income tax submissions.

  • Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and all reconciliations.

  • Manage payroll and statutory submissions.

  • Implement and maintain robust internal controls and financial processes.

  • Liaise with auditors, banks, OEM/manufacturer finance teams, and external stakeholders.

  • Provide financial analysis and insight to support strategic business decisions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (BCom Accounting or equivalent) is essential.

  • A professional designation is strongly preferred: Professional Accountant (SA) through SAIPA, or CA(SA) through SAICA. Membership of a SAQA-recognised professional body (SAIPA, SAICA, CIMA, or ACCA) is highly advantageous.

  • Minimum of 5 years' relevant accounting experience, with proven experience running or overseeing a full finance function.

  • Strong working knowledge of IFRS / IFRS for SMEs, financial reporting, and tax compliance.

  • Experience in the motor / automotive dealership industry is highly advantageous.

  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g. Pastel, Sage, Xero, or a dealer management system) is essential.

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and reporting skills.

  • High level of integrity, accuracy, and attention to detail.

  • Strong leadership, organisational, and time management skills.

  • Ability to manage the finance function effectively while working within established controls and reporting lines.
